Unfortunately the ongoing campaign that Irish, Wind, Badger, Yip, Hayzee, myself and a host of others have been flying and participating in for the past 10 years has ended its long and tenacious run.
Forgotten Skies has ended combat operations with no uncertain terms.
I have enjoyed the campaigns tremendously, as I'm sure the others have.... we have been across every conceivable map, sometimes two and three times, slugging it out every step of the way, run the gamut of aircraft operations that included dogfighting, intercepting, ground pounding, bomber killing, scouting, escorting, and the very last chapter for me entailed high alt level bombing with B-17's.
It has been enjoyable, with only the excitement that closed cockpit high emersion can offer, flying against and alongside some of the best combat sim pilots out there.
During the last few phases I had switched over to the allied side, during our Moscow phase and adopted the monicker 26GvIAP_Scannon, our alter ego of the allied side who actually flew Spit 9s as a combat flight squadron in and around Leningrad. It was akin to the episode of the original Star Trek series "Mirror, Mirror" where the crew members encountered a parallel universe containing somewhat evil counterparts, my favorite, the evil Mr Spock with the goatee, I saw myself in that role. Well the fun is over, and now I am taking it easy, a combination hiatus / relaxed combat profile and resuming duties here.
I hope to see more of you around the HL and the forum, and see what other things create interest combat wise. Its been many years of 2 and 3 nights a week, which are now free.
Cya in the skies.
