S~ I just got back from spending time at Pokagon State Park. The family and I went on the toboggon run they have. We had a great time! But... That isn't the real reason why I am posting something about it. As I completed my first run down the course, I looked out onto the frozen lake and lo and behold I saw this... Kinda cool. I walked out onto the lake to talk to the pilots. I wanted to ask them about the skis, etc. One pilot told me that it only took him 15 minutes to switch out the wheels to skis. (Once he had it all set and ready to go.) I asked how thick the wanted the ice to be before they would land on the lake and they told me 8 inches. He said six would work, but eight was prefered. I asked about any special permits he needed, and he said he didn't need any as the lake was considered a seaplane landing area. By the way, here are some pics of the sled run. It was fun. My kids loved it. Fastest we got going was 35 mph. Here's a you tube video for fun... Do you think it had anything to do with the whole "Ski School" mission EZ has made? S~ MadJek

Very cool.. It is done on more of a sled than a tube I take it? It doesn't look like there's a hell of alot of snow between those concrete rails I've actually got a weekend booked at Mont Ste Anne in Quebec less than two weeks away for some gravity games (err.. and maybe some inspiration for Nazi Ski School ...part deux) I'll have to post some pics of the adventure.

We were at Pokagon this summer. Nice hiking trails --- beautiful park and facilities. Great pics, Madjek! Somebody had a fun toboggan run!

The Tobaggon run itself was stainless steel. (I think) It was refrigerated/frozen ice. There was no snow in it, just ice. The tobaggons themselves weighed 65 lbs! They were made out of several different materials with what appeared to be be the restaurant quality cutting boards for runners on the bottom.

I suppose if the sled was any lighter, I'd be worried about skipping out of the track and hurting myself.. ...badly heh At first glance of the video, I noticed that at the end of the track, it looks like a black hole (tiger-trap perhaps) that the sled is going to fly into, and then the video cuts out. Not to reassuring Although, I'm sure it's not a tiger-trap, I still can't make out if it's a rubber mat or just dirt. Still looks like fun.

Once you come off the run. (The iced track) you go probably about 10 meters on concrete, and then you come to the rubber mat. However, the rubber mat was really just floating on some mud.... We came close to touching down on the mat a couple of times.
