I believe the forested area you are referencing is Le Sherwood Forest and the troops you are referring to are the HG Kampfgruppe Robin Hood. It would be wise to steer clear of that area lest you prefer to be ransacked of everything you own right down to your thermals. The story goes that a military attache journeyed through in a jeep recently and was summarily looted of every precious belonging he carried whereupon he was let go returning to his unit with nothing more than his danskins.... and of course all proceeds do go to charity...

A while ago Badger wrote in this very forum about placement of units. His ruling stated that admins will regularly take a look at the 2 sides of the mission planner to check whether units are placed legally. They would focus on checking for units placed in forests.
Should any units be found in the wrong place, these would then be deleted from the database.
It seems like your units acually ought to be destroyed but if "lol" is the only reaction from one of the admins that - according to Badger - were supposed to enforce this rule, that's rather surprising.

OK, if you had a conversation with Badger I will ask him regarding this. My apologies as I was not privvy to this conversation nor do I recall any discussions regarding protocol of troops located in woods. If we need to relocate these we will, no worries. These units have been smashed by your 152 and bofors guns so they are really an ineffectual force that was backpedaling away from the intense artillery fire. If these troops could not reside there I would have simply moved them into a rearward flak protected area.

I was not aware of this neither. Forests were used by troops to rest and hide. I've never heard about not using the forests for that. I've also seen red fuel drops hidden in the forests wich has sense IMO. Troops hidden in the forest are difficult or impossible to destroy by planes (as it was in RL), but not for enemy ground troops wich can also move and fight into the forests. Even in the woods, the artillery will detect and fire if in range. Anyway, such units do not represent a real thread for the red troops around Lille. But as Scannon says, if you think they should be moved, then they'll be.

Thanks Luny. Well, in real life I guess the forest would have gone right now, and all discussions about placement would be futile. Meantime, our battles are going more and more into 1916 mode.
