I could be wrong but: - have the Howitzer's range been changed for both sides?? - they used to be 6000 mtrs, now they are 10.000 and more? - IF someone has changed that, WHY was it done? and WHY were the Allies not consulted? If i am totally mistaken, please forget this post!

Hi Jojo, I thought they were always 10K well in HSFX anyway. That's whats in the technics file in the fallgelb JSGME option. Check it.
How far back are you thinking? When the campaign was UP2.01?
I just checked the UP technics and yes, back then (UP) it was 6000 for the howitzers.
I'm sure the increased ranges was just a result of moving to HSFX and not a deliberate covert action made against the Allies without consultation but that's not for me to answer, just my opinion. There are many differences in HSFX that would be tedious for anyone to mention in detail but the MP costs table does reflect the ranges at 10000 for the howitzers so its there to see by all and has been for all planners since we went HSFX.
I'm sure if there is any information listed in the costs table that is clearly wrong then it could be updated to reflect the actual figures being used.
Cheers, Hawk 5

S! Jojo;
As Hawk 5 has posted the technics file in HSFX was a range of 10,00 m for some guns. What I did was update all of the objects specs table in the SEOW database to accurately depict the engagement ranges of the different objects, infantry, artillery, AAA, etc. So in essence what you see depicted in the game, (which has been occurring since April, 2011) is now what is in the mission planner and the costs table.
This was just administrative housekeeping, that I had neglected to do earlier.
Hope this explains.

Read and understand Hawk/Badger
But was this done in April 2011 or was this done just recently?
I know that the Axis Howitzers near Rotterdam have not been moving lately, yet since last mission they open fire on targets that they did not before, because those targets were out of reach.
So, that is disturbing

Several missions ago, one red mortar team was destroyed by a 105 howitzer SW of Hirson (AW-3). This unit survived the initial shelling of the blue arty as it was out of the firing arch and was moved SW of its position (to AW-8.1), beeing the distance between arty and mortar close to 10.000 m. The unit was hit after two hours shelling.
Maybe the units you say didn't move, did it already.

We have had 100% recon on these units for the past 16 missions. We have human recon on them not firing until the 0700 mission may 19th. during the 0900 mission they open up all of a sudden. But they have not moved an inch.

Weird, cos I did the move and they moved, and as we saw some red units were hit, we thought they were moving.

AFK, the "working" values hasn't been changed but the values showed did (you can see there are some other guns and infantry with different values; the Pak 50mm and the field arty 37 mm has now drastically lower ranges, but they work exactly in the same way)

In the Brussels attack there were repeated occurances of the axis heavy artillery knocking off targets from approx 10 km. Review the mission results from May 18 0500 hours and May 19 0500 hours, the 4/4th arti regiment was placed approx 10k+ away from the airfield and city. Preceeding this mission their location was not altered, which led to a discussion amongst us as to what triggers the artillery into firing, and perhaps someone else can re-enlighten all of us as to the SEOW machinations involving that aspect. In the mission of May 18 0500 they opened up and it was assumed that they were firing because blue units were getting lit up in the attack, or perhaps allies had moved units forward to attack, closing the range.
Hope this helps.

It's as simple as this: in-game attack ranges has been changed since we moved to HSFX (April 28th). But the Costs table hasn't been updated so the ranges shown there were from UP and obsolete. Only thing changed now was the Costs table to represent the real values we have been using since April.
