Hi guys,
We should be careful about using historical weather records. Basically actual runways were aligned with prevailing wind directions, and the prevailing directions could be different at different locations due to topographic effects (presence of mountains, forests etc). In IL-2 not all runways are correctly aligned with historical coordinates.
SEOW calculates the basic wind direction based on the dominant runway alignment in the map, which gives maximum chance of headwinds on takeoff and landing. By using historical wind parameters, there is a chance that runway conditions may not permit airbase operations to the same extent as was actually the case in May 1940.
This is no big deal, just something to be aware of.
Cheers, 4Shades

This is something all pilots in real life had and have to deal with right?
If the weather conditions are getting too bad it depends on the commanders to decide whether a mission is too dangerous or not.

Emil I think you should let SEOW calculate the wind I went thru alot of trouble debugging the database and setting it up per 4Shades parameters and now you are a adding another thing that we have to debug or can break the mission file. We do not have the airfields set up as 4 Shades suggested and have alot of temporary runways and even the stock runways have problems on this map.
Anyway I have fixed the database and we can plan to fly wed. nights mission. If commanders take a look and make sure their plans are accurate and make any adjustments please complete them no later than 3 hours prior to mission launch time. Mission time is still May 13, 1940 0300 hours. If you want to change or adjust anything please do that ASAP. Allied commanders if you have idle factories please turn them on I have unlocked the production make sure you put in what you have historically been producing at those factories.

How do you suggest to change the weather then?
The airfields all face different directions.

In the future, please let us know via email. Posting here (in an old post) leaves things to coincidence. Thanks.

@emil
Like 4 shades said SEOW does the weather automatically. Just let the program generate the wind and weather no need for you to do it.

I don´t want to start an argument here Badger, but you saw that nothing was generated! All was set to default!!! no wind-direction, no windspeed, no turbulences, nothing!!!
All I did I followed Hawk_5 instructions to activate this feature! In order to activate it, I needed to put in some data! And instead to put in random values I decided to use historical weather.
So instead of pissing on my head for activating this feature in this thread and in the Axis Headquarter thread about weather, it would be a bit nicer to say thanks for doing this Emil.
SEOW will generate on after these settings, so what´s the deal??? And I don´t quite understand why we fly full real and everyone is scared of some crosswinds.

And before putting out things like SEOW does all all automatically check the mission planner!
5:00 o clock and no wind no wind direction nothing is generated. And before you say that´s how it´s generated, please check the sector weather tables, there are no entries.
@ 4Shades, how does this need to be adjusted in order to work automatically?

Checking statistics, we can see the mission started at 03:00 but the last entry #44 says: 03:00 Mission End
This maybe causes the Mission Planner not update (I see it like it was before the mission).
